Tourists from China have not really come to Hungary since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. However, finally, the first group returned in March. The Hungarian Tourism Agency has been welcoming Asian travellers separately, while the government has launched an active campaign in China.

Hungary welcomed the first group of Chinese tourists at Budapest airport on Sunday after a three-year break due to the COVID pandemic. The group of 22 tourists, who are scheduled to stay in Hungary for nine days, were welcomed by officials of the Hungarian Tourism Agency (Magyar Turisztikai Ügynökség, MTÜ) and Budapest Airport, the Chinese state-run China Daily reports.

“The Hungarian government has made a concerted effort to boost tourism by introducing a range of initiatives for the Chinese nationals and promotional campaigns in China,” the Chinese news portal writes.
