A Dutchman has bought up an entire village in Nógrád county, Hungary. He now owns the small village of Bedepuszta. His aim is to rent out the houses.

Dutchman Elroy Thümmler first came to Hungary to party. His agency brought many Dutch people to the country. His first visit to Bedepuszta, a small village in Nógrád county, was 20 years ago, reports Telex.hu. He bought one house in Bedepuszta and then slowly bought them all.

The school building has been turned into an event space, but there is also a pub. A big Dutch tech company rented the whole village from him, then they held a team-building event. That is also his purpose: to rent out the houses.

Bedepuszta did not used to be as pretty as it is now

“This is Bedepuszta. It used to be a pile of ruins. This is the old bus stop. The bus once came by on the dirt road. There were about twenty houses here, ten of which were totally ruined,” starts his report Elroy Thümmler in the video that was produced as part of the cooperation of Deutsche Welle and Telex.

He even brings his friends to the village

The Dutchman first came to Hungary to party, and for years, his agency brought thousands of his fellow countrymen to the famous Sziget Festival. He now brings many of his friends to Bedepuszta, the village he owns.
