Two teenage boys are the first Balaton victims this year

Two teenagers met an unfortunate demise last Saturday near Lake Balaton. Police are still investigating. Continue below for more information.

RTL reports that two seventeen-year-old teenage boys drowned in the waters of Balaton. The two – one of them training to become a welder, the other a mason – were in the vicinity of Balatonvilágos. Police have still yet to find their bodies. The two victims were accompanied by another one of their friends. He miraculously managed to reach the shore with the help of a boatman.

Police are still searching the waters of the lake with the help of sonars. The two victims reportedly went missing not far from the Alga beach. Together with lifeguards, the water police have been tirelessly searching for the two boys since Saturday evening. The authorities were called as soon as the boys went missing.

The group of three went into the water from the beach located near Balatonvilágos. The group had a surfboard with them, reports Bors. Once they were about 350 meters away from the coast, the three boys got swallowed up by a wave. Luckily, the third member managed to cling to the surfboard and alert nearby beach-goers. His cries for help were heard by fisherman Gergely Horváth.
