A man died when his parachute did not open during a group jump in Börgönd, Székesfehérvár. On Friday afternoon, a group of parachutists carried out a group jump at the airport in Börgönd. One man’s parachute did not open properly, and he hit the ground at high speed, police.hu reports.

When he realised that his parachute had not opened, he tried to land with the reserve parachute but failed. The 50-year-old man suffered such serious injuries that he died at the scene.

The Fejér County police launched criminal proceedings in the case, as 444.hu reports. A spokesman for the authority told MTI that the accident was probably caused by a parachute malfunction.
