Winter returned to Hungary, get ready for snow! – PHOTOS

Change language:

Even though it is already April, the weather is expected to become wintry again.

As we can read in HelloVidék’s article, according to the forecast of OMSZ (Országos Meteorológiai Szolgálat, National Meteorological Service) from Saturday evening, the rain may turn into sleet and snow.

Significant snowfall is expected mainly in Western Transdanubia (Nyugat-Dunántúl) and North-Eastern Hungary, therefore

the Hungarian Public Roads Engineering Services will again deploy snow clearing and de-slippering machines in the affected areas.

In the higher altitude areas affected by snowfall (Alpokalja, Mecsek, Börzsöny, Mátra, Bükk), the fresh snow layer may reach up to 5 cm. In the northern part of the Transdanubian Mountains, up to 10 cm of fresh snow may fall.

On Sunday morning, however, precipitation will stop. At the same time, the northwest winds will strengthen.

Temperatures are expected to be subzero in most of the country by Monday morning.

  1. Always worry about blossoms freezing, especially on fruit trees. My poultry were certainly not happy to see new snow in our yard today after days of T-shirt weather. Late winter can be such a tease!
