Shocking! Elderly sets himself on fire in Hungarian district office – VIDEOS

On Monday, 31 January, a 74-year-old man from the area of Veszprém set himself on fire in the government office of Veszprém county.

According to Veol, a local news site, a large number of ambulance and disaster management vehicles rushed to the scene, where the elderly committed suicide.

Veszprémkukac wrote that the office building was in the same street as the local fire department, so the first responders arrived at the scene quickly.

On the website of the Hungarian police, the authorities have reported that the 74-year-old man brought with him a liquid substance and used it as a fire accelerant.

According to eyewitnesses, the man poured the liquid on himself and set himself on fire. “It was horrible to see him burning,” – they said to Veol.

24 inquired about the case from the Hungarian National Directorate General for Disaster Management and the county spokeswoman Henrietta Csondor replied that several pieces of furniture caught fire on the first floor and the smoke spread to the second floor as well.

Fortunately, the fire was extinguished by the local firefighters and disaster management personnel.

Alexandra Máté, the spokeswoman of the Veszprém county police headquarters told Veol, that 37 people had to evacuate the building.
