Simon’s updated asset declaration gives no answers on origin of Austrian funds, says cttee chair

Budapest, February 10 (MTI) – Gabor Simon, a former senior official of the Socialist party who resigned last week over his undeclared assets, has submitted a new asset declaration to parliament’s immunities committee, the committee’s chairman said today.

Simon did not appear at a committee meeting today, as scheduled earlier.

Gyorgy Rubovszky, the committee’s chairman, told a press conference after the closed-doors meeting that Simon’s new declaration had failed to answer questions concerning his undeclared assets on an Austrian bank account. He said Simon had until Tuesday to amend his declaration. He added that the new declaration would be posted on parliament’s website.

Simon attached the declaration to a letter, in which he said that the assets declaration had no box where he could have listed the amount held in his Austrian account. He added that nevertheless he is ready to give an account of the money to a body authorised for the purpose.
