her father, the former Olympic swimmer, Zoltán Szilágyi, abused her and her mother as well.
Liliána Szilágy has wanted to let go of this burden since she was 12 years old. Since 2016, she has also consulted with lawyers and psychologists who helped her process what had happened, index.hu writes.
On her social media sites, she describes having to watch her father beat her mother to a semi-unconscious state several times. In addition, punishments and spiritual terror were part of the daily life of the Hungarian athlete. Liliána Szilágyi said that her goal was not to seek revenge but to draw attention to domestic violence and help victims.
“I was abused. Namely by a man from whom I should have received the greatest love and acceptance. My father abused me. Physically, spiritually, sexually, from my childhood,”
