Hungarian police officers indicted for severely abusing a man

Seven police officers have been indicted for committing collective violence and other crimes in the course of the formal proceedings in June.

According to the announcement of the Central Chief Prosecution Office of Investigation, the police took action against a man for vandalism in the evening of 3 June in Budapest. The man refused to cooperate and attacked the officers, so he was taken to the district police station.

The indictment claims that the police abused the man several times already at the time of the arrest and then later at the police station.

The victim suffered multiple rib fractures, numerous bruises on his upper body, and a collapsed lung, which caused a life-threatening condition,

writes Infostart. The first abuse occurred at the time of the arrest. He approached one of the police officers who first pushed the man away from him, then grabbed his neck and didn’t let it go for several seconds.

The man resisted, threw away his car key and kicked a chair towards one of the police officers, who then punched him in the head.
