HuGo: new app collecting Hungarian places, shops, restaurants in the USA

Change language:
Mihály Kováts, the legendary Hungarian hussar, who fought and died in the American War of Independence, gave the idea for the HuGo, a newly developed app collecting all Hungarian or Hungarian-related places, including restaurant, bars, and shops, in the United States.
According to Index.hu, Anna Lacey Smith, the leader of the Hungary Foundation, which developed the app, said that she read about Kováts’s story in an adventure book when she was young. The Hungarian hussar captain inspired a new app called HuGo available only on iOS (i.e. Apple products) as of now. That is because, according to her, “he symbolizes the role played by Hungarians both in creating the independent United States and in U.S. history, this is why we chose the hussar character for the application.”
Based on a March press release, “HuGo aims to gather locations and sites in the United States with Hungarian references from the Independence War to the present day, continuously building the network of ‘Hungarian traces’ –
be it either historic, cultural, or even gastronomic.”
The app got the nickname “Yankee Hussar” and will soon be available on Google Play as well. They created the app by actively involving American-Hungarian organisations. They added that since Hungarians have contributed to the development of America for centuries, there is almost no place within the country without a Hungarian footprint.

It is found under the name “Hello HuGo” in the App Store. I downloaded it today; looks like will be a very useful app!
