Italian, Polish leaders call for renaissance of traditional European values after meeting PM Orbán

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Matteo Salvini, the head of Italy’s right-wing ruling party Lega, argued in favour of Europe’s renewal and a renaissance of traditional European values after talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Budapest on Thursday.
In a press statement, Morawiecki said they have trust in the future of Europe and the European Union and hold the firm conviction that they together would be able to build a road for Europe.
European integration can further develop but “for it to bear healthy fruits, its roots should not be neglected either,” the Polish premier said, stressing the need to return to Europe’s Christian roots.
Morawiecki said common targets included Euro-Atlantic cooperation and deepening European integration while respecting national sovereignty, individual freedoms and protecting traditional European values and Christianity.
He added that they believed Europe was “completely disintegrated” and damaged by various forces.
Typical populistic slogan, for nothing can be more vague and impossible to define than “European” values.
Which values? The ones of the Ancient times: pre-Greek and pre-Roman, Celtic, Phoenician, Greek, Roman etc.etc?
Or Christian? And why not Islamic, Jewish, and others? Or the ones of nomadic Magyars, Slavs, or of the Vikings’? Everything is deeply interconnected and Europe has been such a melting pot of peoples, cultures, religions, customs, that putting all in a frame is impossiple.
Let’s just say that there are human values, the only ones which really matter, and that based on their disguisting daily propaganda of hatred against “minorities” and migrants, which are just as minorities and as migrants as Magyars ( Orban ) Slavs ( Kaczynski ) Longobards ( Salvini ) once have been, I would say that none of the three tribe “leaders” is advocate of such values.
They mean “European values” as in – before the EU started restructuring and diluting.
This isn’t the era herds of conquerors with bows and arrows on horses…. we are (hopefully) past other bullies like the Nazis running Europe over. Sadly, the people living on those lands could not defend themselves, but they did the best they could and they had every right to do it. The same thing is happening right now. People standing up to protect their territories, values, culture, and yes, religion. Because they are dear to them. Because they have succeeded in creating peace and prosperity within their territories and that is endangered now. They are protecting their countries and ways of living and their people. (=populism) And the EU is trampling all over their rights to do so.
