Thanks to the unified strategic management of MÁV (Magyar Államvasutak – Hungarian State Railways) and Volánbusz, in addition to the development of coordinated timetables and connections, a unified ticketing system and a tariff community are also becoming a reality.
“One of the aims of coordinating road and fixed-track public transport is to make it cheaper and easier for passengers to travel between their point of departure and destination with one single pass. Service providers are moving towards a unified ticketing system and a tariff community,” Pénzcentrum quotes MÁV’s announcement.
Recently, several joint offers have been introduced: from the beginning of August, the popular excursion destinations of the Danube Bend area became accessible with a single ticket, the seasonal Danube Bend Day Ticket. The day ticket entitles you to an unlimited number of trips on the Danube Bend line, using MÁV-START, MÁV-HÉV, Volánbusz, and MAHART to travel. From October 1, the Dunaharaszti zone pass serves to make travelling easier.
Until the introduction of unified season tickets, the MÁV Group considers it important that getting tickets for various means of transport be as effortless as possible for passengers. Following the HÉV tickets, the season tickets for working in Székesfehérvár can be purchased in the MÁV application from November 20, and from December 1, full-price local season tickets in Zalaegerszeg and Nagykanizsa will also be available in the application and at MÁV-START ticket offices.
