The best programs on Children’s Day in Budapest

Children’s Day is celebrated over the last weekend in May in Hungary. You can choose from many colourful programs in Budapest that will keep both small children and parents entertained.
There are countless spots in the city where you can celebrate Children’s Day; the following are just some highlights or the most popular ones.
City Park
The Children’s Day celebration at the City Park is the largest in Budapest and has been organised since 1990. There is a wide range of fun and educational events to choose from for all ages: sports events (in which you can participate) and competitions take place, several concerts will be given, along with exciting dance and acrobatics performances.
The Street of Nations (Nemzetek Utcája) is open on Sunday, May 26, between 10:00 and 18:00. Here, you can taste international food, learn about the traditions of other nations and watch Oriental, Russian, Indian and Latin dance performances.
On Sunday, between 10:00 and 17:00, you can visit the Island of Sports (Sportsziget) too, to watch football championships or work out with other families.
The organisers made sure that children are presented with an opportunity to learn about useful things in a fun way:
there are tents dedicated to internet education, where awareness is raised about the importance of safe internet presence with the help of presentations, quizzes and games. In addition, OTP Bank will set up an ‘Adventure Park’ between 10 am and 6 pm, where children can engage in financial games.
You can learn about horse therapy too: on Sunday, three presentations will be given on this topic starting at 11:00, 14:00 and 16:00.
There will also be free dental check-ups and blood donation opportunities.
All events are free for all ages.
XXL Cifrapalota – Palace of Arts
On Sunday, the 26th of May, the XXL Cifrapalota takes place at the Palace of Arts and the garden in front of it. Cifrapalota is organised each Sunday, but on Children’s Day, it always grows twice in size. The programs taking place on Sunday are best for children under the age of 12, but everyone is welcome to check out the concerts, performances and workshops for free.
