Metro Line M3’s tunnel is sinking, says Népszabadság

There’s a great risk in Metro 3’s tunnel, but its reconstruction is still a mystery – writes Népszabadság. The tunnel is sinking at some places between Kálvin tér and Határ út, and it’s possible that it has to be opened up from the surface at one point so it can be fixed.
According to Népszabadság, the M3 tunnel reconstruction plan has to be modified, because the expenses are too high. BKK announced a tender for the partial reconstruction plan of the tunnel in 2013, and finally, Főmterv’s proposal was accepted last summer. The cost of the repair was estimated to be 160 billion HUF by Főmterv, but the Municipality of Budapest ordered them to keep modifying the plan as it was too expensive.
The cheapest plan would cost 120 billion HUF, and all the optional changes would be left out, such as the reconstruction and accessibility of the underpasses.
