Introducing the Eger Wine Workshop

Change language:
The Eger Wine Workshop was founded by ten Eger winemakers committed to sharing their ideas and working towards a common goal. It was clear to all of them that the way forward was to work together and it is through cooperation that the wine region’s recognition can be increased.
The first discussions took place in 2016. The parties considered organized operation a top priority from the very beginning. To clarify the set of areas in need of development the first step was to ask questions. Discussions were initiated with representatives of trade and gastromony and a 500 strong customer survey was also conducted.
The direction they envisioned was to develop their wine ranges, to finetune the existing brands and to establish standards for the highest wine category.
In practical terms this meant improving the image of Egri Bikavér, strengthening the market presence of Egri Csillag, redefining Szépasszony-völgy, creating and introducing a special Eger bottle and making the wine region more attractive to younger customers.
This is what György Lőrincz, winemaker of St. Andrea Winery and founding member of the association had to say about their joint efforts:
„It’s a great experience to discuss crucial matters with enthusiastic colleagues. I’m happy for them and I sincerely hope that the love experienced at the workshops shall emanate and spread throughout the whole wine region and with belief in our truly worthy goals we can fulfil our responsibilities and show the way forward for the coming generations as well.”
