Wizz Air’s Budapest-Birmingham flight launched

In the current schedule period, flights depart to the Western-England city on Tuesday and Saturday, travelo.hu wrote.

The Budapest offer of Wizz Air was enriched with a new destination: now Birmingham, the heart of West Midlands is also added to the palette of the Hungarian airline. The 180-person Airbus A320 planes of Wizz depart from Budapest in the current schedule period on Tuesday and Saturday, the airline’s statement said.

The W6 2217 flight starts at 16:45 and arrives in Birmingham at 18:25. Here, just after a half-hour terrestrial turn, it goes back with the flight number W6 2218 at 18:55 and arrives at the Liszt Ferenc International Airport at 22:30.

“Since 2012, since another airline stopped its Birmingham flight, we have made very serious efforts with Wizz Air in order to restore the air link.” Balazs Bogats, flight development manager of Budapest Airport said. He added: “Our surveys showed that at least 10 thousand passengers arrived from Birmingham or its agglomeration in Budapest in a detour or with a transfer. This proves that Wizz Air responds to an existing market demand by launching the flight. I think at least 30 thousand people will choose Budapest and Hungary with the direct flight. I’m also sure that more frequent flights will be on the agenda soon as well.”
