Est.hu praises Nicole Kidman’s thrilling portrayal of Erin Bell in Karyn Kusama’s crime film, along with the hints of LA noir traditions in the directorial work. Kidman portrays an alcoholic, depressed detective who has to make amends with her past when an old job comes back haunting and crashing her life.

Pete (Mark Wahlberg) and Ellie (Rose Byrne) set out to foster a teenager, who turns out, has two younger siblings, and a drug addict mother who set their house on fire. San Anders’ family comedy was inspired by real-life events, more exactly by his own family’s story: a couple of years ago, he and his wife decided to foster three children at once.

In order to create a more relatable and life-like story, the director interviewed other families who have done the same thing,

thus creating a family comedy that is not too deep in est.hu’s opinion, but still deeper and concerned with real problems than other films in the genre. The film explores and shows the ups and downs of such family surroundings with honesty and humour.

This multi-national (Belgian, Polish, Hungarian, German, Spanish production) animated biography might be one of the most interesting items on this list, recalling the three-month-long journey that war reporter Ryszard Kapuscinski took across war-ridden Angola with dream-like visuals. In 1975, Kapuscinski, deeply fascinated by lost causes and revolutions, sets out to Angola to report about the civil war taking place there.
