With autumn in full swing and the freezing winter season peaking over the leaf-covered horizon, now is the time to stock up on Mother Nature’s nutritious gifts. Don’t worry, you don’t have to venture all the way to the countryside to find the best and freshest produces!

Lucky for you, Funzine’s team collected their favourite Budapest farmers markets, helping you make the most of the season!

kiskertpiac

1061 Budapest, Paulay Ede utca 33.

Hosted inside the industrial-chic walls of popular urban hangout Anker’t, kiskertpiac is a monthly event focusing on community building through the shared love of urban and sustainable lifestyles. On 18 November the organizers of kiskertpiac will team up with the vendors of Slow Gasztro Market to bring you a healthy and wide selection of syrups, teas, yogurts, gluten- and sugar-free snacks, pies, dips, chutneys, honeys, sausages, cheeses and more.

Open from 10 AM to 4 PM, the downtown farmers market will also feature a number of Hungarian designers, florists, as well as fun family programmes!

Czakó Piacz

1016 Budapest, Czakó utca 15.

Situated in the tranquil Tabán district of Buda, on the gentle slopes of Naphegy, Czakó Piacz first opened its doors to the organic foodie community in March 2017. Since then, the open-air farmers market has become an indispensable part of the local fresh produce scene, thanks to its rustic atmosphere, friendly vendors, and the richness and quality of the items that they offer.

Czakó Piacz is open every Saturday between 8 AM and 3 PM, awaiting visitors with fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, organic seeds, various oils, marmalades, artisanal cheeses, handcrafted chilli jams, eggs, mushrooms, and a beautiful panoramic view of the city.

Szimpla Farmers Market

1075 Budapest, Kazinczy utca 14.

Held every Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM, the farmers market of Budapest’s most famous ruin bar has everything you’re looking for: operating since 2013, the market and its 30-40 vendors regularly attract more than 3,000 customers, who are awaited by a mouth-watering selection of locally sourced cheese varieties, honey, jams, syrups, vegetables and fruits, meats, freshly picked and dried mushrooms, truffle specialties, spices, and sandwich spreads.

In addition, the upper floor of Szimpla also gives home to Szimpla Brunch, enticing those with an empty stomach with delicious juices, homemade cocoa, special pick-me-ups, muesli, as well as other food items.
