August 20 programs

The unmissable part of the August 20 programs is the Ecumenical bread blessing. A reaper march will go to the place at 14:30 from the Szent Gyorgy Square. (1014, Buda Castle). The location is 1014 Szent Haromsag Square, Budapest. The bread symbolizes life, livelihood and home. The bread with tricolor ribbon means life and home are linked. The bread made of new flour became the ornament of the festive table and the symbol of statehood celebrations.

From 8:30 to 9:30, the flag of Hungary is hoisted and Defense Minister Csaba Hende holds welcome speech. After that, there will be the inauguration of military officers and President Janos Ader holds festive speech.

There is Parliament Open Day from 10:00 to 18:00. It means that everyone can visit the House of Parliament and see the Holy Crown.

Programs start with the slicing of the cake and sugar-free cake of Hungary and the cake of the Armed Forces in the Hungarian Flavors Street, Budapest on August 20. In the Hungarian Flavors Street – a section between Clark Adam Square and Dobrentei Square – three fruits play a prominent role this year, displaying three seasons: strawberry, peach and plum. The program lasts from 10:00 to 20:00.
