Opposition DK calls on government to focus on real problems
Change language:
The opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) said that since the migration crisis is over, the government should deal with Hungary’s real problems, including health care, education and housing.
The reason that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has not briefed parliament about the results of last week’s European Union summit is that the migration crisis is over, DK deputy group leader Gergely Arató told a press conference.
What the government has to say about this issue “is completely out of touch with reality”, he added.
Citing figures from the European Border and Coast Guard Agency Frontex, he said that as against over one million migrants arriving at Europe’s southern borders in 2015, the figure dropped to 160,000 in 2017 and less than 50,000 in the first five months of this year.
The migrant wave is over but the Hungarian government has political motives to keep alive a “fake conflict”, Arató said.
