Hungarian volunteers go to Nepal

According to alfahir.hu, seven Hungarian volunteers forming a health contingent set off to the scene of the earthquake in Nepal – Laszlo Turi told MTI on Tuesday, who directs the Life Sign Rescue Team of Szolnok.

Laszlo Turi said: under the auspices of Karisz Special Rescue Association, 2-2 members of three Hungarian special rescue organizations – the Life Sign Rescue Team, the Phoenix Special Ambulance and the Legott Rescue Team – and the director of a Hungarian NGO dealing with the region as a liason are participating in the action. All helpers are volunteers, ie. the cost of travel and the stay until May 5 is financed by themselves or by their organizations – he added.

He said, they stated to the UN Humanitarian Affairs Office (OCHA) they were ready to make a search and rescue team and to assist on the spot. Consulting with the organization, they eventually established a health contingent, taking into account the local needs.
