Traffic turned upside down in Budapest

Change language:
According to szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu, terrestrial transport of Budapest is going to change drastically in the coming months. Until mid-May, trams of the Grand Boulevard (Nagykorut) are operating only between Oktogon and the South Buda termini. From Kiraly utca to Szell Kalman Square, replacement buses are operating, which, however, stop at Margitsziget only on weekends, daytime.
According to the previous information of BKK, the canges are needed because of the renovation of Szell Kalman ter, the warranty repair works of Margit hid and the construction of the intertwined tram network of Buda. The work has already begun on Saturday.
The traffic also changes to the direction of Budaors, because a new crossing is being built. The following tables explain where changes are expected, where there are ongoing renovation and construction works.
Changes in Grand Boulevard
From the South Buda termini to Oktogon, 4 and 6 trams are operating, from Kiraly utca to Szell Kalman ter, replacement buses transport the passengers until mid-May.
Until May 23rd, buses will be operating on the complete line of tram no. 6 at night, between 0 and 4 am. Replacement buses stop at Margtitsziget only on weekends, during the daylight hours.
Schedules of bus lines 91, 191, 116 and 931 will change. For more information and a detailed timetable visit the page and Facebook page BKK.
Margit korut-Tolgyfa utca-Margit hid-Szent Istvan korut-Terez korut route will be difficult to access. Namely, for the 4-6 replacement bus, a bus line was designated on certain parts of Grand Boulevard and Margit korut. On the other parts of the rout, bus and car traffic go on a shared lane, szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu says.
From Szell Kalman ter to Szena ter, the two right-sided lanes of the double-two-lane roadway will be closed. Therefore, you can go by car only on the left track, on one lane in each direction.
From Thursday, the section of Varfok utca between Vermezo ut and Csaba utca will be one-way, towards the Csaba utca.
On Szent Istvan korut, on several sections between Margit hid Buda side and Szena ter, road traffic will be hindered by track renewals and construction works. The disruption is also expected to last until mid-May.
