CNBC reports that Live and Invest Overseas has collected 10 of the best destinations for pensioners in 2017. The cities were examined according to 13 criteria, and Budapest was chosen among the top 10. Budapest is praised for its historical and architectural values, as well as for the fact that it is relatively cheap.
CNBC has featured a commentary by the editor of Live and Invest Overseas (LIO) magazine, where the top 10 destinations are collected for pensioners. The team of LIO keeps a close eye on cities and countries as to provide the best advice on where to retire abroad.
LIO publishes the Overseas Retirement Index annually, in which the best retirement places are included. The destinations are put into thirteen different categories so this will help you make your choice easily. The thirteen categories are based on what pensioners and retirees consider to be the most important factors when choosing a city to live in. These are cost of living, crime and safety, English spoken, entertainment, environmental conditions, expat community, health care, infrastructure, recreation, residency options and taxes, real estate affordability, restrictions on foreign ownership.
Budapest is praised primarily for its rich history and old, wonderful architecture, along with the fact that all of the modern conveniences are at your disposal. The city is described as ‘one of Europe’s loveliest capitals’ and all its nicknames are listed here, which reveal the most characteristic traits of Budapest: the Heart of Europe, the Pearl of the Danube, the Capital of Freedom, of Spas and Thermal Baths and of Festivals.
