New record at the world championship of pasta bridge building

The Iranians’ construction could stand an incredible weight. The Hungarians also did well.
No new world records were achieved in bridge category, as it is reported by Szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu. The bridge structure with the highest load capacity, which collapsed under 421 kilograms (928 pounds) was presented by one of the teams from the University of Óbuda.
On the 7th RECCS Pasta Bridge Builder World Championship organized by the University of Óbuda, engineer students demonstrated their knowledge acquired at the different universities of the world in an entertaining way.
A new record was achieved in Holder category on Thursday.
The team of Islamic Azad University beat the former record of 2011 by 55 kilograms (121 pounds) with their Holder which was able to carry 666.3 kilograms (approximately 1468 pounds).
Hungary was represented by the three teams of Donát Bánki Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering, while the competition from abroad included teams from Bulgaria, Latvia, Iran, Lithuania, Norway and Romania.
RECCS had two categories, which were evaluated by the jury from both aesthetical and innovative aspects.
Due to the rules, the constructions had to be built from pasta either from the market or homemade, consisting of only flour and eggs. The adhesive was optional, but it could only be used as a connecting element, and the total weight of the structures could not exceed 1 kilogram. Bridges were different from holders in a sense that they had to contain a continuous, 50-milimeter-wide track made of pasta.
