Vietnam, Hungary lift bilateral ties to new heights

Change language:
During their talks in Hungary on Tuesday, visiting President Truong Tan Sang and his Hungarian counterpart, Ader Janos, agreed to take measures to enhance the two countries’ relations to new heights. The agreement was reached when the two leaders met on September 16 in Budapest, where they expressed their pleasure at the fruitful outcome of the development of bilateral relations in the past.
However, the two presidents also agreed that bilateral cooperation in terms of economics and trade needed to be further strengthened, as it has yet to match both countries’ potential and expectations.
They reached consent on major measures to effectively make the best use of the two countries’ potential and strengths in an effort to enhance their cooperation, especially in agriculture, education, trade, pharmaceuticals, environment, culture and the training of atomic energy experts, to a new level.
President Sang affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to consolidating and developing friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with its traditional friends, including Hungary.
The Vietnamese President also thanked the Hungarian people for their valuable and effective support of Vietnam during its past struggle for national independence and current national construction and defense.
For his part, President Janos affirmed that Hungary wants to continue strengthening and promoting the traditional friendship and long-term, all-round cooperation between the two countries and peoples.
Given that the world economy faces numerous challenges, the fact that Vietnam has achieved GDP growth of 5-6 percent per year is impressive, the Hungarian President said.
