Most Hungarians still prefer dubbed films

Change language:
The majority of Hungarians still prefer dubbed films over subtitles, the survey of the multiplex chain Cinema City revealed. The representative survey examined the cinema-going habits of different generations, 24.hu writes.
78pc of survey takers say that they like it the most when the language of the film is Hungarian. 17pc prefers their films with the actors’ original voices, but with Hungarian subtitles, while 5pc likes the original version of films, without subtitles.
89pc of cinemagoers aged 50-59 insist on dubbed films, while this number is only 59pc among people aged 16-29.
The survey reveals that going to the cinema is the second most common free time activity, after hosting a gathering at home. 60pc of survey takers go to the cinema regularly, at least once every 6 months. People aged 16-24 like going to the cinema the most, at least once every three month.
These numbers are outstanding in this region; twice as many people go the cinema in Hungary than in Romania, the Czech Republic, or Poland.
According to piackutatasok.hu, cinemagoers choose films primarily based on genre, only 4 out of 10 people consider positive or negative reviews.
