Zara, the Hungarian collie outshone her 282 opponents and won the award for the most beautiful female dog at the 2017 Crufts Dog Show in Birmingham, writes nlcafe.hu.
This year the Crufts Dog Show was held between March 9-12 in Birmingham and, among the collies, it lined up 283 doggies, of whom the Hungarian Prince of Sunlight Naomi, nicknamed Zara, was found worthy of carrying the title of the most beautiful female dog.
Established in 1891, the Crufts Dog Show became the biggest dog show of the world over the years, celebrating not only the beauty of human’s best friend but the role these wonderful four-legged creatures play in our lives. The event even has a qualification round, the Crufts Qualification Competition, where the doggies are evaluated by the jury and thus get chosen for the show.
József Szalczinger, breeder of Zara, told the site how happy he became because of the success of his dogs and their descendants throughout Europe. He added that dogs have always had an important role in his life, for he fell for collies at first sight when he and his sibling got one in their childhood. Later he graduated as a livestock engineer and wrote his thesis on collies.
No wonder that then, after university, he established his own kennel, named Prince of Sunlight, which had its first little ones in 1992. The perfect collie for Szalczinger has a special and smiling look, nice body composition and health. In order to ensure that only 1-2 breeding are carried out annually they plan the pairing well.
