Zsolt Hlinka’s photo series has been shortlisted for the Sony World Photography Awards. The World Photography Organisation’s contest is the world’s leading photography competition, szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu writes.
Zsolt Hlinka’s series ‘Urban Symmetry’ has been shortlisted in the architecture category of the professional competition. The series was selected from more than 227,000 entries from 183 countries.
Hlinka’s series presents buildings on the bank of the Danube, but they are taken out of their surroundings and imposed upon a neutral background to emphasize the individuality of each building. Moreover, the buildings are not presented in their entirety; instead, they are reflections of themselves, forming perfectly symmetrical “building portraits”. (worldphoto.org)
“It was a huge surprise when I found out that I was awarded at such a prestigious competition,” said Hlinka Zsolt. “I’m really happy since this was the first time I submitted my work, and the awarded series is my favourite. I feel honoured that my photos achieved such great success among so many other photographers’ work.”
