Europe Says No to the Hungarian Football Players

According to nemzetisport.hu, only two Hungarians play in the 4 top European leagues.

This is the record lowest number since the regime change. None of the two players play in the Hungarian team. It was not even considered seriously to buy a Hungarian player in a top league or a highly acclaimed championship. From 1991, there was never so few Hungarian players in the top leagues. You could not create a starting team because there are only 10 players in the top leagues and the highly acclaimed championships together, nemzetisport.hu says.

This situation is similar to the one int he middle of the ’90s when only 3 Hungarians played in the top leagues. After this low point, Krisztián Lisztes was the first who was selected by Stuttgart. He was followed by Gábor Király and Pál Dárdai, both of them played in the Bundesliga. After the joining the EU, Zoltán Gera, Gábor Király and Sándor Torghelle went to the Premier League, Gera stayed there among them for a long time. Vladimir Koman and Krisztián Vadócz played in the Italian league, nemzetisport.hu says.
