5,000 Hungarians die of this disease every year: don’t forget to get tested!

Cecília Müller drew attention to a dangerous disease. According to the National Medical Officer, five thousand Hungarians die of colorectal cancer every year, even though the disease can be effectively prevented by screening.

Cecília Müller spoke on TV2’s Mokka programme about how colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumours in Hungary and Europe. She added that this should not be the case: it is a very well screenable disease.

In the interview, the medical officer indicated that ten thousand new cases of the disease are registered in Hungary every year and five thousand people die. According to Cecília Müller, this number could be minimised if screenings were carried out early enough to detect the disease.
